It is finally 2024 NBA Draft Day and the Philadelphia 76ers own the 16th and 41st pick this year. This is the first time that the 76ers will own a draft pick since 2021, when Philadelphia selected Jaden Springer in the 1st Round, and Filip Pestrusev and Charles Bassey in the 2nd Round.

Here’s what I believe Philadelphia will do in the upcoming Draft:

16th Pick: Yves Missi, Center, Baylor

Yvis Missi is a 7-foot-tall big man from Cameroon who could make an immediate impact for Philadelphia. His stature may lead people to believe that he is a traditional 7-footer who sticks in the paint and tries to play bully-ball down low.

This is not Missi’s game.

Missi is an extremely athletic player who played as a guard up until 4 years ago when he was converted to a big man after a 6-inch growth spurt. He would be great for a 76ers’ team that already has an established big in Joel Embiid and he could learn from him.

Missi’s guard-like skills as a Center make him dangerous on multiple sides of the court.

41st Pick: Ajay Mitchell, Guard, UC Santa Barbara

Ajay Mitchell out of UC Santa Barbara is a 6’3 guard who could develop into a star in the NBA, should he be trained correctly. He averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in his final season in the NCAA and proved to be excellent off the ball despite his exceptional scoring.

Mitchell would be used by Nick Nurse to cut towards the rim and finish athletically, if need be. His game revolves around cutting toward the hoop and making plays inside the 3-point line, which could be the perfect play style that Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid need to take the team to the next level.
