A few thoughts:
- Eagles kept 27 players on offense and 23 on defense, closer than most years but a clear decision to prioritize offense more this season.
- The biggest shocker has to be the Eagles keeping four quarterbacks on the roster. Tanner McKee and Andy Dalton were fighting for the backup spot, with one of them expected to be cut or moved once the deadline came. That was not the case as Philadelphia elected to keep them both.
- Due to the QB move and keeping a fourth tight end, the Eagles elected to waive both international prospects Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru. Both players have never played organized football before this summer and were likely to spend the year on the team in developmental roles, but now the Eagles decided to have them on the open waiver market. They hope that they both clear waivers and can return on the practice squad.
- Wide receiver gets an extra spot due to the great camp from Elijah Moore. Moore makes it alongside Hollywood Brown, as many felt Brown was uncuttable due to his $5 million guaranteed from his contract.
- Eagles take a fourth tight end, but choose E.J. Jenkins over Cameron Latu. Both good blockers, Jenkins was much better and gives them two great blocking tight ends alongside Johnny Mundt.
