2 of the best pitchers in baseball duked it out earlier today from Detroit, and Ranger Suarez, unfortunately, had one of his more lackluster outings despite his exceptional month of June.

Let’s break down the tough loss for the Phils.

The Skubal show

The Phillies became another victim to Tarik Skubal‘s phenomenal season as he put up 7 shutout innings in front of his home crowd.

Seemingly the only Phillie who could get anything done today was of course the MV3 himself Bryce Harper. A 351-foot homer in the top of the 9th would prove to be too little too late.

Tough 5th inning for Mr. Ranger

The best pitcher in baseball had his struggles against the Tigers offense today, with a 4-run 5th inning being the deciding factor in today’s lost

To be fair to Ranger Suarez not all of those runs should have been earned. Trea Turner probably should have been charged with an error, but MLB scoring decisions have been sporadic for years now.

The rubber game 3 will take place tomorrow where Spencer Turnbull is set to make his first start since April
