On Sunday, news broke that Haason Reddick was granted permission to seek a trade, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

However, on Tuesday, Reddick said he never asked for a trade and wants to spend the rest of his career with the Eagles. Reddick posted on X/Twitter on the situation:

Reddick is in the last year of his contract and is set to earn $16 million next season. He signed a three-year, $45 million free-agency contract with the Eagles prior to the 2022 season. He has outplayed that deal in his first two years in Philadelphia. Reddick had 27.0 sacks in 2022 and 2023 and 3.5 more in the 2022 postseason.

However, Reddick is only the 21st-highest-paid edge rusher in the league based on average annual salary, so it is understandable that he wants a restructure or extension. The Eagles, however, do not seem to be in any sort of a rush to pay that sort of money. Reddick turns 30 in September and dropped from 16 to 11 sacks this past year. Reddick’s performance dropped off late in the season as did the whole team, with no sacks in his last five games after 11 in his previous 10.

Reddick told Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report he wants to stay in Philadelphia.

“I would like to get an extension done at home,” the South Jersey native and former Temple star said. “At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded.

“This is home for me. I was born and raised here. Two of the most fun years playing football in my life came here. I’ve cherished being an Eagle.”

Schultz also reported that the Eagles told Reddick’s agent they could seek a trade, which they obviously would not do if they wanted him here at market value.
