Philadelphia Phillies fans tailgate ahead of NL Wild Card Series playoffs vs. Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023. [Daniella Heminghaus, Delaware Online]

Phillies’ single-game tickets have been on sale for nearly a week, and fans have examined the promotions and giveaways happening at Citizens Bank Park this season.

And as a guy who critiques promotions pretty laboriously, they are pretty good this year.

Here are my top 10 promotions for this season in date order:

March 28 vs. Braves, Opening Day scarf

The Phillies’ Opening Day giveaways are usually pretty lame. They used to do nice beanies, but have recently leaned towards rally towels that looked to be designed by 10-year-olds, they did a fleece headband, and other low-budget items.

But in 2024, the Phillies are using their postseason profit wisely and upping their game for Opening Day with a nice scarf. It will certainly be helpful for a parade in November (please).

March 30 vs. Braves, Opening Night t-shirt

The Phillies have done a t-shirt giveaway on Opening Night every year. The last two have been cool. In 2022 it had the MVP trophy on it for Bryce Harper, and last season it was themed for the National League championship.

This season, they are finally going back to a red shirt for the first time since 2018. And even better, the shirt says, THE FIGHTINS. It is awesome.

May 5 vs. Giants, Mother’s Day bucket hat

It seems like every season the Phils giveaway a bag on Mother’s Day, and they are always underwhelming. But this season, we are rocking with the pink bucket hat.

If the team does not warm up with these on I will be disappointed. You know what, they should play with them. Why not?

May 17 vs. Nationals, Bryson Stott bobblehead

Last season, there was a Dick Allen bobblehead giveaway. While it was cool, I would have liked to see the Phillies giveaway a current player’s bobble.

They fulfilled my wish, and it is a-o-k. Stott’s head looks a little funky in the photo, but it is still cool. It would be better if it played his walkup song (“A-O-K“). That is too expensive for the Phils, they still have to save money to pay Harper and Trea Turner.

June 21 vs. Diamondbacks, Cole Hamels Retirement Night, 2009 National League Champions Replica Ring

Hamels finally called it a career this offseason, and the Phillies are throwing a ceremony for him against the team that beat them in the NLCS.

The Arizona Diamondbacks return to Philadelphia for the first time since Game 7 when the Phils are hosting a pregame ceremony for Hamels and giving away a 2009 NL champs replica ring. Good luck, snakes.

June 23 vs. Diamondbacks, Father’s Day hat

While it is not as cook as the Mother’s Day one, the Phils are giving out a nice cap for Father’s Day. The mesh back is kind of a killer, but it is still nice.

June 27-28 vs. Marlins, firework shows

As is tradition at this point, the Phillies’ Fourth of July firework shows are strangely scheduled for the week before the holiday. Granted, these are their final home games before July 4, but it is still weird to have fireworks a week before.

Nonetheless, the Phillies knock it out of the park with their fireworks shows. Along with it, they have a punt on laser and drone shows as well. We will see what they add to it this time around.

July 11 vs. Dodgers, 1980s Retro Night, Phillies Bullpen Cart

Photo via phillies.com

So back in the day, pitchers from the bullpens used to be carted out in a golf cart to the mound because people then thought it would save their energy. They existed from 1950 through 1995, and some teams have brought them back since.

The photo above is what the Phillies’ one used to look like at Veterans Stadium, and they are giving away a mini one on ’80s night with Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in town.

The only problem is, it is only for 14 and under. How deflating (lol).

July 26 vs. Guardians, Trea Turner bobblehead

We fixed Turner so well, that he is getting his own bobblehead.

I cannot tell you how long it has been since the Phillies gave away two bobbleheads. It has only ever been one, and maybe one other that required a theme night ticket.

I guess they know what we want.

July 28 vs. Guardians, Kyle Schwarber “Schwarbomb” beach towel

I mean, this is the most electrifying thing I have ever seen and it may be the greatest towel of all time.

No further words need to be said.

Those who did not make the list

April 14 vs. Pirates, sleeveless hoodie

Photo via phillies.com

This is lame and sleeveless hoodies are dumb.

April 21 vs. White Sox, Phillie Phanatic Birthday, Phanatic mittens

Photo via phillies.com

These may be the worst giveaway for the Phanatic’s birthday I have ever seen.

July 12 vs. Athletics, sustainable Phillies cap

Photo via phillies.com

This is nice but these hats are made of plastic so they are usually not great hats to actually wear. They will be better if the Phillies and Oakland (Las Vegas?) Athletics both wear their 1920s throwbacks like they are rumored to.

August 16-18 vs. Nationals, Phillies Alumni Weekend

This is always a fun weekend. It would be great if they could finally start inducting members of the 2007-11 team into the Wall of Fame.

September 25 vs. Cubs, Fan Appreciation Night

Fan Appreciation Night being on a Wednesday absolutely sucks and I am not happy about it.

There are of course a few postgame concerts. They are Riley Green on June 22 and Kaskade on July 27. I have never heard of either of them.

There are still more promotions being announced. So stay tuned!
