We have an official start time for the Eagles’ Week 18 matchup with the Commanders, and it will have seeding implications.

The Eagles will host Washington on Sunday, January 4, at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS. With the Bears’ Sunday night loss to the 49ers, with an Eagles win and a Chicago loss next week, the Eagles will clinch the two-seed.

If both or neither things happen, the Bears will own the two-seed. Chicago hosts Detroit on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET on FOX.

The Commanders are 4-12 and fell to the Eagles in Week 16, 29-18. Their season is over. They could look to play spoilers at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.

The question now is whether or not the Eagles will play or rest their starters. The two-seed is vital. You are guaranteed at least two home games, and possibly the NFC title game if the one-seed, which will be either Seattle or San Francisco, falls. This also minimizes travel. The one-seed will be on the West Coast, and the Super Bowl is in San Francisco.

The Eagles were the two-seed last year and hosted all three playoff games possible.

The Eagles have not lost a home playoff game since 2020, when Carson Wentz was knocked out of the game in the first half.

As it currently stands, as the three-seed, the Eagles would be hosting the Rams on Wild Card weekend. If they bounce up to the two, they would host a much more favorable matchup against the Packers.

Do not be surprised if the Eagles opt to play their starters. It is another chance to get the offense revved up and going before the playoffs, and the two-seed is important.

Here is the full Week 18 schedule:

The big ones:

  • The winner of Panthers-Buccaneers will win the NFC South and clinch the four-seed in the NFC.
  • The winner of Seahawks-49ers will win the NFC West and clinch the one-seed in the NFC.
  • The winner of Ravens-Steelers will win the AFC North and clinch the four-seed in the AFC.
