So much for April showers, bring May flowers.

The Phillies have announced that Wednesday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves has been called off due to impending rain. Due to the weather, the game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Thursday, May 29, with Game 1 beginning at 1:05 p.m. and Game 2 at 6:45 p.m.

Fans who purchased tickets for tonight’s game will be admitted to the makeup game at 1:05 tomorrow. The gates for Game 1 will open at 12:05 p.m. and for Game 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Before the postponement, Phillies ace Zack Wheeler was set to take the mound Wednesday night against Braves right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver, with lefty Cristopher Sanchez planning to go at it on Thursday. Now Wheeler will shift to the night game and go against the man who beat out Wheeler for the Cy Young award last season, Chris Sale. Sanchez will face Smith-Shawver during the first game.

The extra night off also gives Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper a chance to get even more rest as we wait and see if he can get back into the Phillies lineup.

The Phillies will remain at home following the doubleheader and take on the Milwaukee Brewers for a three-game series.
