Bryce Harper Hit by Pitch in Elbow During First Inning vs. Braves; X-Rays Negative

In the top of the first inning of the Phillies’ Tuesday night game against the Atlanta Braves, first baseman Bryce Harper was nailed in the elbow by a 95 mph fastball thrown by Braves right-handed Spencer Strider.
Harper’s right elbow is the same one that he previously had Tommy John surgery on at the end of the 2022 season.
UPDATE: Bryce Harper was removed with a right elbow contusion, the Phillies announced. His X-rays were negative.
After consulting with the Phillies’ head athletic trainer, Paul Buchheit, Harper was removed from the game by Phillies manager Rob Thomson, with Edmundo Sosa replacing him.
It’s an unfortunate thing for Harper, who was not wearing an elbow pad during his at-bat, that many big leaguers wear. Harper is just over two years removed from returning to the Phillies from his elbow surgery.
