Saquon Barkley has cashed in once again.
Fresh off his greatest season as a pro, Saquon Barkley has signed a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. With the new contract, Barkley is now under contract with the Eagles for the next four seasons.

The Eagles did something that they often don’t do in signing a running back to a big contract, but it’s safe to say that that decision worked out for them. In his first year in Philly, Barkley rushed for an Eagles franchise record and league-high 2,005 yards, becoming the ninth player in NFL history to accomplish the feat. Barkley also set the NFL record for rushing yards in the regular season and postseason combined with 2,504.
It was a historic season for Barkley, one which was capped off with a first-team all-pro selection, an Offensive Player of the Year award win, and also a Super Bowl Championship win. Eagles’ General Manager Howie Roseman called Barkley’s 2024 year “the best season any skill position player has had in NFL history.”
Barkley’s new deal also allows him to earn an additional $15 million in incentives and also includes $36 million fully guaranteed at signing. He also makes history as the first running back in NFL history to make $20 million or more per year. Barkley will now remain in Philadelphia as the leading man alongside Jalen Hurts for the next number of years as the Eagles attempt to compete for another Super Bowl.
