Eagles Grant Haason Reddick Permission to Seek a Trade

After a terrible end to the regular season, the offseason for the Eagles may have just started even worse.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Eagles have granted Haason Reddick permission to seek a trade. Reddick is coming off a season where he had 11 sacks, which was his second straight double-digit sack season as a member of the Eagles.
Reddick has one year remaining on his three-year $45 million deal with the Eagles.
There were rumors that last summer Reddick was looking to cash in on his big 2022 season with a contract extension from the Eagles, but the Eagles obviously did not give him that deal. It is safe to assume now that Reddick wanted an extension this offseason, which the Eagles are not willing to give him. While he is 29, not giving him an extension would be a mistake. While we do not know the type of money he is looking for, the Eagles’ defense was one of the worst in the NFL last season, with him as just about its only bright spot. If the Eagles want to contend for a Super Bowl next season it will be a lot harder for them to do that with Reddick off the team.
Currently under contract, the Eagles have Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, and Patrick Johnson. If they do move on from Reddick they will have to find another impact pass rusher in free agency, or the first round of the 2024 draft.
