The Flyers are locking up one of their rising young wingers.
Tyson Forester is signing an eight-year extension worth $56 million with around a $7 million average annual value.

“We’re excited to have Tyson be a key part of our long-term future,” said General Manager Daniel Briere in a press release. “He has established himself as an important piece of the foundation we’re building here. Since coming up through our system, he’s continued to improve and develop every step of the way into a consistent offensive contributor while also being a trusted and reliable 200-foot player. We have a great deal of confidence in him and believe he’ll play a significant role as we continue building toward a successful team for years to come.”
Forester, who is coming off a shortened season, only played 29 games in the 2025-26 season for the Flyers while he dealt with an upper-body injury. Despite that, he still scored 13 goals and assisted four for 17 points. In ten games in the Stanley Cup playoffs, he scored once in 10 games.
Coming off his best season in the 2024-25 campaign, in which he scored 25 times and assisted 18, the Flyers extended him for two years and $7.5 million. Just one year later, the Flyers are locking him up for the future. Once his two-year deal is over, his new contract will kick in.

Briere is making an investment in someone who is going to just keep getting better and better. With the youth of Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone, the Flyers are looking to build one of the youngest and strongest attacking threats in the NHL.
Forester also has immense value in his shooting, puck awareness, and ability to play in different situations. This deal would buy out prime years and create even more value if Forester develops into a consistent 30-goal scorer.
The Flyers are extending their second player of the offseason, with the first being Daniel Vladar. Vladar was extended for five years on Wednesday afternoon.
