BG is officially coming back.
After walking away from the NFL after 15 years in the league, defensive end Brandon Graham is finalizing a contract with the Eagles to return to the team.
Graham holds the record for most seasons played for the Eagles and most games (regular and postseason), as well as ranks third in all-time sacks in franchise history with 76.5.
This move comes as little shock as the Eagles pass rush have been depleted with losses over the past month, as they’ve lost both Nolan Smith and Ogbo Okoronkwo to tricep injuries, Za’Darius Smith to retirement and most recently Azeez Ojulari to a hamstring injury. While Smith will return at some point this season, the team’s depth has taken a huge hit just seven weeks in.
Graham is one of the greatest Philadelphia Eagles of all time. He’s a former second team All-Pro and Pro Bowler and is one of only four players to win two Super Bowls with the Eagles. In 2011, he was drafted in the first round, 13th overall and struggled for many years before finding his footing with the team in the later 2010s.
His most notable and career defining play as an Eagle came in Super Bowl LVII when Graham strip-sacked Patriots quarterback Tom Brady that helped secure the franchises first Super Bowl victory.
Along with 76.5 sacks, Graham has recorded 487 tackles, 22 forced fumbles and 11 pass deflections in his career. When he signs his deal, Graham will become the 34th player in NFL history to play 16 or more seasons with one team. Other than Graham, no Eagle has ever played more than 14 seasons with the franchise and now he’ll continue to increase that record along with different stats.
