After his offense dominated against the Chiefs defense on the biggest stage, Kellen Moore confirmed what it felt like everyone already knew.
After weeks of rumors, interviews, and for Moore conveniently enough taking a trip to New Orleans, it was announced he will be the next head coach of the Saints.
#Eagles OC Kellen Moore is finalizing a deal with the #Saints to be their new head coach, per The Insiders. What was expected for more than a week will be official soon.

It is no coincidence that the Saints were the last team to find their head coach. The job is a complete dumpster fire. Mike McCarthy essentially said he’ll wait until 2026’s coaching cycle instead of taking an interview with the Saints.
Why is it so bad you may ask? It’s a long list.
I know how hard it is to turn down 1 of 32 Head Coaching jobs in the NFL but…

NO WAY in hell would I leave this Eagles team to take that Saints job if I’m Kellen Moore.
Mickey Loomis is a terrible general manager. If it weren’t for that legendary 2017 draft, he would’ve been fired years ago. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
Kellen Moore needs a quarterback. He’s been lucky to work with Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, and Jalen Hurts. The Saints don’t have one. They have Derek Carr coming off an awful season, as well as Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. Not exactly a murderers’ row. It doesn’t help that the skill positions are Alvin Kamara, Rashid Shaheed, and the next best player is arguably Juwan Johnson.
To make things worse they can’t do anything to fix this in the short term. Not only are they too far back in the draft for a QB, but they are $51 million under the cap and have a league-leading $48.4 million in dead cap. They have been kicking the can down the road since Drew Brees retired and it has predictably landed them in a nightmare. Too good to hit on a QB, too bad to make the playoffs, and too far buried under the cap to do anything about it.
To make things worse, the organization as a whole has found itself in a very sensitive legal situation. More and more is coming out about members of the organization being involved in covering up the New Orleans church scandal from a few years ago.
The point is the entire organization has buried its head in the sand. Even if Moore is the perfect HC, unless the Saints give him a lot more roster control than I think they will, he can’t fix the financial problems of this team. Unfortunately, I could very easily see this all ending with Moore losing a power struggle to Loomis, and getting fired for it.
Now, who’s next up for the Birds at offensive coordinator? Hard to say exactly who they’ll go with next.
When Nick Sirianni picked the staff a couple of years ago, it ended disastrously. Ben Johnson and Sean Desai were completely outmatched, with Desai even being replaced mid-season by Matt Patricia of all people.
The #Eagles are expected to conduct a full interview process for the OC position, and Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman will oversee it, per Jeff McLane.

Then last year, things obviously went a lot better. The Eagles looked outward for both Moore and Vic Fangio and struck gold on each.
My top candidates for the position are the following:
Eagles wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead: Goes without saying he’s done a fantastic job with the WR room, but I admittedly would be surprised at the quick jump.
Eagles pass game coordinator Kevin Patullo: Once again, he has more than proven that he can produce results. The Eagles pass game, even if rarely used because of Saquon Barkley, was volatile when it needed to be and in the Super Bowl especially. Patullo has already been heavily rumored for the position and seems to be the early favorite.
Bengals pass game coordinator Justin Rascati: If the Eagles were to look outward, Rascati would be my top target. Joe Burrow had his best season yet, and the Bengals’ problems were all on the defensive end. Rascati in his first year as the pass game coordinator, led Joe Burrow to leading the league in passing and Ja’Marr Chase winning the triple crown.
Hard to tell with these kinds of decisions, since internally, the front office could’ve already identified a successor to Moore in the event he was hired away.
As someone who had a lot of questions about Moore when he was hired, I’m more than happy to say he answered all of them. Moore took a group that couldn’t have fallen flatter at the end of last season and turned them into one of the best offenses in Eagles history. When your OC can make Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee look like elite QBs all in one game, it’s safe to say he’s pretty good at what he does.
All of that and he made the Cowboys look dumb in the process after they fired him a few years ago. Kellen Moore will forever be a legend in Philly for helping lead this team to its 2nd championship, and I wish him nothing but the best in New Orleans.
