The 76ers have lost once again to no one’s surprise, this time to the Houston Rockets in overtime. Tyrese Maxey‘s strong second-half was not enough to take down Jalen Green and the Rockets.

Philadelphia falls to 3-14 and own one of the worst records in basketball, while the Rockets jumped to an impressive 14-6.

Nick Nurse was without 4 starters in Joel Embiid, Paul George, Kyle Lowry, and Caleb Martin, making things difficult for the reserves.

Philadelphia struggled for the majority of the first quarter, but a strong second quarter kept hope alive going into the second half.

The Sixers were only down 4 points when the 3rd quarter began and were able to keep things close throughout the final two quarters. Most of Maxey’s 39 points and 10 assists came in this time period, which allowed Philadelphia to stay competitive.

However, a lackluster overtime period led to the Sixers eventual 122-115 loss to Houston.

Green’s near-career high 41 points and Jared McCain‘s abysmal 0-7 outside shooting were contributing factors in Wednesday’s loss. Kelly Oubre Jr.’s invisibility on the court didn’t help much either.

On the bright side, there’s promise for Ricky Council IV to become a bigger piece of the rotation after his performancel. The 2nd-year man out of Arkansas shot 5-7 from the field, notching 12 points, plus an additional 10 rebounds and 2 stocks. Depth is problem that Philly didn’t expect to encounter this season, but if Council can get more minutes, he can help alleviate these issues.
