Flyers start season strong in Vancouver with shootout win

The Flyers started their season with a huge road win, 3-2 in a shootout against the Canucks.
The Flyers are now 8-0-2 in their last 10 season openers and 3-0-0 under John Tortorella. And are 6-1-1 in their past 8 games against the Canucks.
Let’s recap the game.
First Period
After the Flyers killed 2 huge penalties with the help of Samuel Ersson, the Canucks scored the first goal of the game. Nils Hoglander, with the help of Conor Garland, scored his first goal of the season to give a 1-0 lead to the Canucks with 7:05 left in the period.
The Flyers tied the game a few minutes later with 2:36 left in the first period on their first power play of the season. A goal from Tyson Foerster with the help of Joel Farabee and Bobby Brink. The second unit scored the first goal of the season for the Flyers off the rush.
Second Period
The Canucks will take back there in the second half of the period. Teddy Blueger will score his first of the season with the assists from Forbort and Suter. The goal came a few moments after the Flyers killed another penalty.
Third Period
The Flyers won’t wait much time to tie it early in the third period. Cam York with the assist of Ryan Poehling and Garnet Hathaway evened this game up with 17:12 left in the period. This goal wouldn’t count right away for the Flyers, the puck went in and out of the net. The players on the ice thought it was a goal, but the buzzer during the play a few seconds later confirmed the goal.
Shootout
The overtime time wasn’t enough. The Flyers will go to the shootout, until the sixth shooter, and Morgan Frost will give the win to Philly.
The Flyers went 2/6 in the shootout: goals from Travis Konecny and Frost. Ersson made 5 of 6 saves to help the Flyers get the win.
The Flyers will come right back at it tonight at 10 pm EST for their second game of the road trip and their first back-to-back of the season against the Calgary Flames. Ivan Fedotov will get his first start of the season.
