Late, and I mean late, Saturday night the 76ers officially announced the signing of Paul George and leaked his number in the process.

George’s podcast, ‘Podcast P,’ posted a teaser, including that George would announce his number on the newest episode.

And, well, the Sixers decided to do their own thing.

To follow it up, ‘Podcast P’ posted Sunday morning a photo of George rocking his new number, No. 8, giving us a first look at what to expect in October.

“I had to do it,” George said on his podcast, which releases on Monday at 9:00 a.m. ET. “I’m in Philly. My idol, the Bean, Kobe Bryant. My way of idolizing Kobe. And it’s something that meant something to me outside of 24 and 13. It was only right.”

George wore 24 with the Pacers from 2011-2014, before switching to 13 in 2015, which he has worn ever since. Since 24 and 13 are retired by the Sixers, he had to switch it up. 24 is retired for Bobby Jones and 13 for Wilt Chamberlain.

“It’s different,” George said. “I like the eight. The eight looks good on me.”

George said the decision took a while, trying to find a number that looked good and made sense to him. He says he looked at 14, 25, and 31, but ultimately landed on eight.

Here is the complete list of those who rocked No. 8 in a Sixers uniform:
