We are in for some painful baseball for the next few weeks.

The Phillies recorded just five hits in their 3-2 loss to the Marlins Saturday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. It was their second without three members of their core, Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, and Kyle Schwarber.

Aaron Nola started for the Phils, searching for his 100th career win in the regular season. And, well, he was an out away from getting it. On his, fittingly, 100th pitch of the day, Nick Fortes tied the game at two with a two-out double. Nola was pulled after that, and it was an excellent day for him. In 6.2 innings pitched he allowed six hits, three runs, all earned, no walks, and struck out nine.

Similarly to Thursday, Matt Strahm entered the game trying to end the seventh. And, well he did end it, but came out of it with his team trailing. Jazz Chisholm Jr., who stole the Phillie Phanatic’s ATV pregame, tied it with an RBI single.

Do you get deja vu from Thursday?

The Phillies are really feeling Realmuto, Harper, and Schwarber’s absence. They have scored four runs in the last two games without them and have just two homers since June 26, one of them coming from Garrett Stubbs on Saturday. They went one for five with runners in scoring position Saturday, as well.

The Phillies had a chance to take the lead in the fourth with two runners in scoring position and one out. Edmundo Sosa hit a liner back to the mound that hit Roddery Muñoz‘s arm, but Nick Castellanos hesitated at third. Stubbs then lined out to second to end the inning.

Castellanos had another instant in the eighth, where he struck out looking to end the inning. Home plate umpire Nate Tomlinson was calling pitches on the corners strikes throughout the game, but Castellanos had a point on this one.

This offense will not be good over the next few weeks. We as a fanbase have to come to realization of that. As long as they play .500 ball, they will be alright.

They look to avoid losing the four-game series to the Marlins Sunday with Ranger Suarez on the mound.
