Phillies stay hot on West Coast, take 2 of 3 against Halos

The Phillies dominated on their West Coast road trip. They took 5 of 6 including a sweep of the Padres and wrapped up a series win over the Angels on Wednesday. In total, they went 7-3 on their road trip, including a four-game split in Cincinnati.
The bats were clicking over in Anaheim, let’s go over it.
Trea Turner almost got ready to call Angel Stadium his second home, going 4-9 across the first 2 games of the series. His season, unlike last year, is off to a red-hot start as his average is up to .336. Alec Bohm stayed hot as well, going 4-13 across the 3 games. I can’t mention the bats however without mentioning the most unlikely heroes that occurred in the second game. It was no secret that Nick Castellanos was off to a terrible start, and as for Johan Rojas his bat had improved greatly, fielding is still definitely his strong suit. Trailing 4-5 to the Angels both of these Phillies went deep to take the lead and the Phillies would go on to win 7-5. Hopefully a turning point for Casty.
On the Mound this series we go, Cristopher Sanchez, Spencer Turnbull, and Zack Wheeler. Christopher Sanchez, who by no means has a stable job, struggled greatly in his loss. In 5 innings he allowed 7 hits and 4 ER. The bullpen did everything it could, but it wasn’t enough. It will be interesting to see if this plays into the decision to possibly move Sanchez to a relief role. Game 2 was another good outing to add to Spencer Turnbull’s collection. He managed 5.1 innings allowing just 2 runs and continued to make his case for a starting job. Game 3 we got the same old, dominant Zack Wheeler. The Phillies ace went 5 innings allowing just 1 run, in the lowest scoring game of the series by far.
The Phillies became the first team in MLB with 20 wins in this series and the future continues to look bright. The team is red hot, but there is a relatively tough patch in the schedule coming up. They return home for 4 games against the Giants and then get 2 games against the Blue Jays. Both are very winnable series, but more challenging than the ones we’ve had. The team should be able to take at least 3 of those games and then it’s green grass ahead. Their next 3 series after that are the Marlins, Mets, and Nationals. All 3 should be series wins and the Marlins should be a sweep if we’re being honest. Then it’s a tough series against Texas, but then you got the Rockies. The future is very bright for the Fightins.
