There were questions if Joel Embiid was even going to play on Thursday Night. Not only did he play, but he dropped his playoff career-high with 50 points. This was the highest point total one player scored on the Knicks in the playoffs since Michael Jordan put up 46 in 1996.
Embiid’s 50-piece led the Sixers to a 125-114 victory over New York.
The 76ers defense was top-tier. Philly never allowed more than 29 points in a quarter this game, allowing only 27 in the 3rd quarter. Jalen Brunson may have scored 39, but they held the rest of the Knicks to less than 20 points each, excluding Josh Hart‘s 20. This is the defense that Philadelphia needs to win the series.
Philadelphia used force, will, and pure dominance to take down New York in Game 3. After both teams stayed about equal for the entirety of the 1st half, Joel Embiid took things into his own hands in the 3rd quarter. Embiid had 18 points in the 3rd quarter, which is more than he had in the first half.
People have criticized Embiid’s lackluster playoff performances in the past.
They can criticize no longer.
Philly will continue their shootout with the Knicks on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. in the Wells Fargo Center for Game 4. Going down 3-1 is known to be extremely difficult to come back from and Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and the rest of the squad is going to want to prevent that from happening.
