1 More Day — 2 Round Eagles Mock Draft

With just one day until the first round of the NFL Draft, it’s time for my two-round Philadelphia Eagles mock draft.
For this mock draft, I am using Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator. In the first two rounds of the draft, the Eagles have picks 22, 50, and 53.
22. Kool-Aid McKinstry CB Alabama
The Philadelphia Eagles have not drafted a cornerback in the first round since they drafted Lito Sheppard in 2002. I believe that trend ends this year. The Eagles’ top priority in this year’s first round will be to draft an offensive tackle who can play guard until Lane Johnson decides to hang up the cleats. But in this simulation, all of those players were gone.
McKinstry has been a hot name for a few years as he was a first-year starter at Alabama which is extremely rare. At 6 feet and 200 pounds, he is a good size to play on the outside. McKinstry has been praised for his ability to be a great cover corner, and from what I have seen, he does not shy away from contact. One thing that does worry me is his playmaking ability. In his three years at Alabama, he had only 2 interceptions. If you are taking a corner in the first round he needs to be a great cover man, but also make plays on the ball.
I think if the Eagles had their perfect scenario to draft a cornerback it would be Terrion Arnold, another player from Alabama. In this mock draft simulation, Arnold went 11th overall to the Rams. There was a report from ESPN over the past few days that Howie Roseman has been making calls to potentially move up in the draft for a cornerback. Whether that’s Arnold or another player remains to be seen, but if they stay put at 22 I like Kool-Aid to be the guy.
50. Edgerrin Cooper LB Texas A&M
In an offseason of uncharacteristic moves, the Eagles continue with drafting a linebacker in the second round. The Eagles signed Devin White this offseason to a one-year contract, but that doesn’t stop them from drafting the next linebacker for this team.
Cooper had a great 2023 campaign with 83 total tackles and 8 sacks. With the Eagles losing some pass rush in the offseason, adding a linebacker who can rush the Quarterback would be massive.
The book on Cooper is that he is great at shedding blocks and making tackles, but needs some work in the run game. In the second round, I like the upside of Cooper getting better against the run and bet on the playmaking ability.
53. Chris Braswell EDGE Alabama
After losing Haason Reddick to a trade the Eagles need to add more pass rushers. They do so here by selecting Chris Braswell with their second second-round pick. Braswell had 8 sacks this past season at Alabama while also having 42 total tackles. He had limited playing time in his first two seasons but had a breakout year in 2023.
At 6 feet 3 inches and 255, Braswell has great size for the position. Scouts love his ability to get off the ball and use his speed to get to the Quarterback. He may not have number-one edge rusher potential, but I think he can be a productive NFL player.
