The Sixers (45-35) returned to the Wells Fargo Center following a 4 game road trip. The team looked as good as ever, granted against one of the worst teams in the league, the Detroit Pistons (13-66).

Without Tyrese Maxey, the team stayed dominant with Embiid dropping 37 including a circus-like shot, and got the foul while fouling to the ground.

Embiid started his dominant night, red hot with 10 1st quarter points of the 30 the Sixers would put up. This included a 14-4 run in the middle of the quarter, with Tobias Harris being responsible for 6 of these points. For Detroit, Jaden Ivey led the way in scoring with an even better 11 points for the Pistons. After the first 12 minutes, the Sixers led 30-22.

Embiid didn’t slow down at all with another 10 points in the 2nd quarter. If there is anything to take away from this game it is that Embiid is completely, 100% back to his MVP-like form. Each team’s offenses got clicking with the 76ers dropping 34 and Detroit putting up 30. For Detroit this quarter it was the veteran Evan Fournier with 12 second-quarter points leading the way. At half from the Wells Fargo Center, the 76ers led by 12, with a score of 64-52.

The 3rd quarter was the biggest fight we saw from Detroit, probably all night long, with a 14-4 run, cutting the 76ers lead down to just 1. This would all be for not though, as the 76ers slowly but surely rebuilt their lead. Embiid and Oubre lead the way in scoring with 8 each for the 76ers, who would score 26. Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duran each scored 5, as Detroit would tie the 76ers 3rd quarter points, also putting up 26.

Any possibility of an upset was crushed in the 4th quarter as the 76ers would open it up with a 16-2 run, giving them a 23-point lead. Embiid and Buddy Hield led the way during the run, with them each scoring 9 points in the 4th quarter as a whole. Malachi Flynn off the bench led the way in scoring for the Pistons with 8 points. When the clock hit 0, the 76ers had grabbed themselves their 6th straight win, and a big one at that.

The 6 seed is as wide open as ever, but it’s time we talk about something possibly better. The 3, 4, 5, and 6 seeds all have 46 wins, just one more than your 76ers. If the 76ers beat the Magic Friday night, which they should be able to, and then beat the Nets this team could very well find themselves as maybe even the 5th seed and if we get lucky the 4th seed.

The moral of the story is to buy Sixers stock, many of the contenders in the East are very beatable and the 76ers are red hot at the perfect time. With the NBA playoffs only getting closer, the results around the league across the next 5 days are going to be pivotal in the 6 seed chase for Nick Nurse and company.
