MLB: OCT 11 NLDS Phillies at Braves

Earlier today the Phillies announced that they had shipped of RHP Connor Brogdon to the Dodgers in exchange for LHP Benony Robles.

This comes just 5 days after his disastrous performance in the 10th inning in the Phillies 6-3 loss to the Reds.

Connor Brogdon at one point looked like somebody who was going to be a fantastic bullpen arm for the Phillies for years to come. He had a spectacular 2022, but for one reason or another, hasn’t been the same since. He was a key piece in the Phillies bullpen being as lockdown as it was during the team’s magical run to the World Series. He went 8.2 innings with a 2.08 ERA during the playoffs. Quite the difference considering he seemed like one of the most hated men in Philadelphia after his terrible start to this year’s season.

In exchange for Connor Brogdon, the Phillies received LHP Benony Robles. At just 23 years old, the lefty has spent most of his time in the minor leagues, gathering a combined 4.67 ERA during that time. The odds we see him on the bump for the Phillies any time soon are probably pretty low. In 2022 FanGraphs described Robles as having “gorgeous arm actions,” and was labeled as a sleeper prospect in the Dodgers organization who “might pop.”
