It took just 6 days for Howie Roseman after the Eagles’ playoff loss to relieve Sean Desai of his duties as Defensive Coordinator.

Desai was demoted from DC in mid-December in the midst of a late-season collapse that ended in Philly losing 6 of their final 7 games.

The former Defensive Coordinator replaced Jonathan Gannon, who joined the Arizona Cardinals as the head coach in the offseason, and it was expected that the Eagles’ defense would drop off slightly from their dominance last year.

Philadelphia’s defense did more than drop off slightly. The Eagles’ defense was bottom 10 in the NFL in yards allowed, points allowed, interception percentage, and sack percentage. They went from 70 sacks in 2022 to 43 in 2023 despite upgrading the D-Line by adding Jalen Carter.

Desai reportedly will be considered for other Defensive Coordinator opportunities for other teams. Ian Rapaport noted that Desai’s former team, the Chicago Bears will be a candidate as well as the Seattle Seahawks.

This firing is Step 1 for Philadelphia fans to have promise in the 2024 season. Step 2 is the firing of Brian Johnson.
