Defensive struggles lead to changes by Eagles

The Eagles’ defense has gotten torn up in the last three weeks. So, the Eagles have made a major change.
They have replaced defensive coordinator Sean Desai with senior defensive assistant Matt Patricia, according to Jay Glazer of FOX NFL Sunday. Desai will remain with the team, just in a different role. Patricia will call plays and run the defense starting Monday night when the Eagles take on the Seahawks in Seattle.
The Eagles have lost their last two games to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys by a combined score of 75-32. They can still win the NFC East by beating four teams with losing records, which would clinch at worst the two-seed in the NFC.
Desai joined the Eagles in February after spending last year with the Seahawks. Patricia joined the Eagles in late April.
Seven weeks into this season, the Eagles ranked eighth in the NFL in yards, but once entering the “gauntlet”, the defense fell apart. The last three weeks have been historically bad, as the Eagles allowed 109 points, including nine touchdowns, and a field goal in the span of 10 drives over the 49ers and Cowboys games.
The Eagles have allowed 29 passing touchdowns this year, which is the second-most in the NFL, and they have just six interceptions.
It is a major change made by the Eagles, it is even more glaring as it has come at the peak of adversity. Jalen Hurts, who is questionable for Monday, and head coach Nick Sirianni faced close-to-zero adversity in their first couple of years together, especially last season when they won the NFC. Now, they have gotten blown out by two great offenses in back-to-back weeks, and seem to be in panic mode by essentially firing their defensive coordinator. And there have been even more negative things coming from the Eagles this week.
Bad look.
