Flyers heading into last stretch before the draft — What to expect

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports
The Flyers’ season is coming to an end in a few weeks. It’s now all coming down to the 2023 draft. It may be interesting for the Flyers since they have a chance to go further down in the standing to get the best draft pick possible.
The fire of Chuck Fletcher puts Danny Briere in the position of Interim General Manager. The draft maybe even more interesting since it will be his first opportunity as an official GM and not as an assistant. The 2023 draft has a lot of good players and it’s the first opportunity for the Flyers to build for the future. Briere made it clear during his first interview as an Interim GM, the plan for the first 2 years is to get some draft picks.
Getting younger
Yes, the draft will be important for the Flyers but they also going to have to make an important decision about the current Flyers roster. It’s clear now that the Flyers are going to rebuild and get younger. They will have to make trades for that to happen. What veterans will stay? What veterans will go? Are they going to trade young players to get more draft picks? Those questions will be important for the organization.
Some rumors came out on Twitter last week about the future of Carter Hart with the Flyers. The young goaltender is getting closer to his prime years and can help a competitive getting better in net. Also, will Carter Hart want to be involved in a rebuild for the next few years? It’s still uncertain, but as Briere said, they are ready to hear an offer for pretty much any player.
Owen Tippett first hat trick
A positive thing happened for the Flyers last night facing off against the Buffalo Sabres. Owen Tippett recorded his first career hat trick on the one-yar anniversary of the Giroux thousand (and last) game. It’s unreal to say, but it’s the best acquisition the Flyers made under Chuck Fletcher. Ownen Tippet has still a lot to learn per Torts, but he is a power Forward that will be important for the Flyers moving to the future.
