LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul reveals why 76ers have his attention: ‘How could you not?’

Things may be really starting to heat up between the 76ers and one of the NBA’s most renowned figures.
Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul confirmed on his podcast, “Game Over,” that the Sixers have the attention of LeBron James as he deciphers his future.
The 45-year-old Paul and his co-host, Max Kellerman, broke down a whiteboard presented by Paul describing all of James’ options. Ten teams were represented in some form. The Sixers, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Cleveland Cavaliers had four members of their starting lineups listed. “LeBron” was in the middle with arrows pointing to where he would fit in each lineup.
When speaking on Philadelphia, Paul opened with: “Everything changed.”

That “everything” has taken place over the last 72 hours, since free agency opened. The Sixers have made a pair of quality signings — Dean Wade to a four-year, $39 million contract, and Anfernee Simons to a two-year, $12.3 million contract. Of course, sandwiched between them was the trade for Jaylen Brown. Teaming the 2024 NBA Finals MVP and second-team All-NBA selection with the young Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, along with Joel Embiid, has the all-time NBA scoring leader’s eyebrows raised.
“How could you not have the attention when you have Maxey, Edgecombe, Brown, Embiid,” Paul said.
On that whiteboard, of the 20 players listed, only Maxey has a star next to his name. Paul represents the 25-year-old, who is coming off his first career All-NBA Third Team selection.
“[James] loves Maxey,” Paul said to Kellerman, “so we don’t even have to talk about that.”
Paul described the Sixers as “Maxey’s team,” citing the importance of “health and habits” regarding Embiid. He also mentioned how James can help elevate the 20-year-old Edgecombe. James, who has been through it all, can help the All-Rookie First Teamer learn the game and what it takes to win.

Kellerman believes that James might just be the missing piece.
“That [team] by itself doesn’t necessarily work,” Kellerman told Paul. “But if you add the right guy — LeBron James is the one guy who might be able to unlock that and get that to be a team.”
Perhaps the three-time NBA champion can be just that. The Sixers need another power forward. They could use some veteran presence. And James can use one final run in year 24.
“[James] enhances everything there,” Paul replied. “He unlocks everything there.”
