The 2025-2026 NBA season has finally come to a close, and Philadelphia now looks toward the first offseason under new President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey.

This past season told the front office a lot about what could be improved on for the future. From Tyrese Maxey earning himself his first ever All-NBA selection to VJ Edgecombe‘s emergence as potentially another future star in the backcourt, Gansey has a big opportunity to add more talent to an already dangerous Philadelphia lineup for 2026-2027.

This draft class is expected to be as good as it gets, with talent all across the board at all different positions. Now, with the 22nd pick in the draft, the ball is in Gansey’s court to decide the future of this 76ers roster.

Pick 22 (via Houston from Oklahoma City): Koa Peat, Forward, Arizona

A major piece in the Wildcats’ Final Four run this past season, Peat is a 19-year-old kid with NBA size and strength. Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 235 pounds, Peat immediately fills the gap that Philadelphia has in depth, specifically with the forwards. Peat has room to grow with his young age, and with Paul George and Joel Embiid both about to enter the second-to-last year on their contracts, Gansey may want to start the youth movement now by bringing in an especially young rookie to the team.

Peat averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists with Arizona as a true freshman, anchoring the team’s frontcourt and leading them on their deep postseason run. Peat will bring to the table classic bully ball scoring, along with versatile finishing at the rim and inside, while also acting as a multi-positional defender. With a 6-foot-11 wingspan, Peat has the ability to contest shots at the three-point line and guard small-ball bigs, making him a valuable asset in multiple facets of the game.

Peat has the talent and ability to become a day-one starter for the 76ers, and would be an excellent first addition to the team by Gansey, should he fall to pick 22.
