The Eagles are finally drafting a safety.

With the 244th pick in the NFL Draft, the Eagles have selected Cole Wisniewski from Texas Tech. The pick they received was from Minnesota for Jonathan Greenard.

With a lot of people thinking the Eagles were going to select safety in the earlier rounds due to their lack of depth, they waited all the way to the last round to add a safety.

Wisniewski, a senior, transferred to Texas Tech after three seasons at North Dakota State. He recorded 38 solo tackles and two forced fumbles during the season.

At 6-foot-3, 219 pounds, he is a big safety and effective as a run defender near the line. He plays with physicality and has the size and strength for better matchups against heavier wide receivers or even tight ends.

He has dealt with some injury history, though, missing time in 2022 with an Achilles injury and missing the entirety of the 2024 season due to foot surgery.

But after seven rounds, the Eagles finally picked up a much-needed concern on defense.
