The Eagles have made a huge splash on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.

The Eagles are acquiring linebacker Jonathan Greenard from the Minnesota Vikings and a 2026 7th-round pick (No. 244 overall) in exchange for the 98th overall pick in the 2026 draft and a third-round pick in the 2027 draft. The 98th pick the Eagles traded for Greenard was a compensatory pick they received for losing Milton Williams in the 2025 offseason.

The team announced the move moments after. His agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, confirm that he will sign a 4-year, $100 million extension that includes $50 million guaranteed.

Greenard, 28, wanted a contract extension from the Vikings in early March, but the Vikings didn’t want to pay him. Trade rumors about him and the Eagles have been speculating since the beginning of the offseason, and the two teams have agreed to deal on Day 2 of the draft.

A pro bowler in the 2024 season, Greenard started all 17 games, recorded 12 sacks and four forced fumbles, earning All-Pro and defensive player of the year honors. A down season in 2025 followed, with him only recording three sacks, one forced fumble, and 19 solo tackles. That didn’t stop the Eagles from trading for him.

This gives the Eagles much-needed stability in a position where they had just lost both Nakobe Dean and Jaelan Phillips in free agency, and now this move gives them the big-time power they needed, with Greenard coming into his prime and getting to work under Vic Fangio.
