Tyrese Maxey has turned himself into a household name this season. In return, he receives one of the NBA’s highest honors.

The 76ers’ 25-year-old guard was named as a 2026 NBA All-Star Game starter for the first time in his career. It will be his second All-Star Game appearance.

His Eastern Conference counterparts will include Jalen Brunson of the Knicks, Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Cade Cunningham from the Pistons, and Boston’s Jaylen Brown. In the Western Conference, the starters are Luka Doncic of the Lakers, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Thunder, Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic from Denver, and the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama. Elite company.

Starters were decided by 50% fan voting, 25% player voting, and 25% media voting.

The last 76er to start an All-Star Game was Joel Embiid in 2024.

Maxey was an All-Star in 2023-24, and, along with everyone else on the Sixers, followed up the next year a bit rough. However, this season, he has kicked it into a whole new gear.

Maxey is first in the NBA in minutes per game (39.4), third in scoring (30.3 points), fourth in made three-pointers per game (3.7), and fourth in steals per game (1.9). He leads the Eastern Conference in scoring and is shooting 40.2% from beyond the arc. Maxey is also averaging 4.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, all of which are career highs.

Not just have the numbers skyrocketed, but so has his leadership. Through all the inconsistencies with the veterans on the 76ers roster, Maxey has become the leader in the locker room. This is his team, and he has embraced it. His offensive role is elevated, his defensive commitment is additionally significant, and he has excelled.

The All-Star Game is February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the new home of the Clippers. New this year, the game will be played with a USA vs. World format. The new format includes two teams of U.S. players and one team of international players (known as the World team), which will compete in a round-robin tournament featuring four 12-minute games. The three teams will each have a minimum of eight players. Reserves will be chosen by the league’s head coaches and announced at a later date.
