Jaire Alexander informs Eagles he is stepping away from football

Jaire Alexander has informed the Eagles that he is stepping away from football to focus on getting himself right physically and mentally.
Jay Glazer of FOX first reported the news.
The Eagles traded for the 28-year-old cornerback on November 1, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Ravens. The move was made to help the Eagles’ struggling CB2 position. Although Adoree’ Jackson played well in Green Bay on Monday night, and with Michael Carter II on the roster, the Eagles have some recourse.
Alexander did not travel with the team to face the Packers to give him more time to adapt to a new defense and to continue recovering from his knee injury.
Alexander was born in Philadelphia before moving south at a very young age. He was a second-team All-ACC at Louisville and was selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Packers, where he spent seven seasons and was a two-time second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler.
Since then, he has dealt with injuries and a really poor nine weeks with the Ravens to start this season.
In eight seasons, Alexander has recorded 245 tackles, 70 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions.
