Landon Dickerson to undergo “minor procedure” on right meniscus, hopes to return for season opener

Everyone take a deep breath.
After suffering a meniscus injury in his right knee towards the end of Sunday night’s open practice at a sold-out Lincoln Financial Field, Landon Dickerson will undergo “a minor procedure” in the coming days.
He will be considered week to week, with the goal of returning for the season opener vs. the Cowboys on Thursday, September 4.
This is the best-case scenario for the Eagles, especially since the general thought Sunday night was that Dickerson was going to miss most of, if not the whole season. It did not look pretty.
Now, the Eagles may be avoiding turning to a backup left guard to place between Jordan Mailata and Cam Jurgens. Kenyon Green, Matt Pryor, and Trevor Keegan are the backup options, although Green is currently injured. Green would likely be the replacement if the three-time Pro Bowler Dickerson does, in fact, miss time.
In four seasons since being selected 37th overall by the Eagles, Dickerson has played in 63 of 68 possible regular-season games, and he has started 62 of those 63. He was rated as the 13th best overall guard according to Pro Football Focus last season.
Dickerson has experienced a lot of injuries involving his knees. He tore his right ACL in 2016 and his left ACL in 2020, and also played through a knee injury in the NFC Championship Game in January. Dickerson’s history of knee injuries will definitely come into play during the treatment of his meniscus injury.
However, he is as tough as they come in terms of playing through pain. It is not certain that Dickerson will be starting in three weeks against Dallas, but there even being a chance that he will be ready for the regular season is astonishing and sensational news.
