Many breaths were held at The Linc this evening as one of the Eagles best went down with an injury.

Starting left guard Landon Dickerson suffered an injury during the team’s Sunday night open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. It has been reported that it was a lower leg injury, and Dickerson needed help coming off the field before taking a cart back to the locker room.

Heading into the open practice, Dickerson had already been diagnosed with a knee injury.

It’s a scary scene for the defending champs as they are less than four weeks away from kicking off the 2025 season at home against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, September 4.

Dickerson has been a staple for the Eagles’ offensive line ever since he was drafted back in 2021. Since coming to Philadelphia, Dickerson has played in 63 of 68 possible regular-season games, and he has started 62 of the 63 he has appeared in. In four seasons, he’s been named to three Pro Bowls, and last season he was rated as the 13th best overall guard according to Pro Football Focus.

Prior to the start of the 2024 season, Dickerson was awarded a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Eagles, keeping him in Philadelphia until 2029. His excellent performance last season helped Eagles running back Saquon Barkley rush for over 2,000 yards, becoming just the ninth player to ever accomplish that feat.

While more tests will likely have to be done to determine the extent of Dickerson’s injury, as of now, it doesn’t look great for the fifth-year veteran. Backup left guard Kenyon Green, who was acquired for C. J. Gardner-Johnson this past offseason from the Houston Texans, would likely be Dickerson’s replacement if he misses time.
