With the NBA Playoffs nearing their close, draft season is finally upon us.
The Sixers will select with the 3rd pick in the draft, but rumors are swirling on what may be in store for Philadelphia. Whether that be trading up, back, or keeping the pick, the 76ers are in store for major talent to come their way.
Here is what could happen in the 2025 NBA Draft:
3rd Pick: Ace Bailey, Guard, Rutgers
Now, there are many different directions that Philadelphia can go with this pick. If Dylan Harper is available, he could be the pick, as well as VJ Edgecombe.
That being said, when a talent like 18-year-old Ace Bailey comes your way, you do not pass up on it. Bailey averaged 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists alongside Harper at Rutgers. His pure scoring ability, which he demonstrated in his short time with the Scarlet Knights, was a sight to see and could translate to the next level. His 6’10” stature could put him in a multitude of roles with the Sixers.
He could replace Paul George if he were to be moved, but he would find a starting role no matter what. Out of everyone in the draft, Bailey has some of the most upside.
If I were Daryl Morey, I’d select Ace with the 3rd pick in the draft,
35th Pick: Rasheer Fleming, Forward, St. Joe’s
A Camden native, Rasheer Fleming just finished his Freshman season with St. Joe’s, putting up respectable numbers of 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds, shooting 53% from the field.
With the lack of serviceable forwards on the team, the Sixers would find great use in the 6’9″, 240-pound forward. He uses his size to his advantage and would be an excellent backup for the first few years of his career, before eventually developing into a starting-caliber player.
Fleming’s ties to the Philadelphia area and his stature make him NBA-ready on day 1. However, Morey and the Sixers would be lucky for Fleming to fall to the 2nd round.
