The Philadelphia Eagles have added some serious muscle to their defensive line, selecting Nebraska defensive tackle Ty Robinson with the 111th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after a pick swap that included the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons.
Robinson is a massive presence at 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds. Over six seasons at Nebraska, he played in a school-record 60 games, showing both durability and experience. In 2024, he was named Third Team All-Big Ten after putting up 33 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and six sacks. His size and production made him a clear target for teams needing help up front.
The Eagles needed depth at defensive tackle after Milton Williams left for New England in free agency. Robinson fits that need perfectly. He’s versatile enough to play multiple spots along the line and tough enough to handle the grind of the NFL trenches. His high-motor style and strength made him stand out at Nebraska, and he brings that same edge to Philadelphia.
At the NFL Combine, Robinson caught a lot of attention by running a 4.83-second 40-yard dash, the fastest time among defensive linemen. That kind of athleticism at his size is rare and gives the Eagles more options in both run-stopping and pass-rushing situations. His physicality will complement Jalen Carter’s, and his length gives him the advantage of batting down passes over the middle.
Robinson joins a defensive group that already added linebacker Jihaad Campbell and safety Andrew Mukuba earlier in the draft. The Eagles clearly made it a priority to get younger and stronger on defense, and Robinson fits the plan.
He won’t be asked to carry the load right away, but his experience and physical style should get him on the field early in a rotation role. He will have to work on a few things that held him back, short arms, and was routinely late to get his hands up, allowing offensive linemen to make the first significant contact in both phases of the game. Also leads to him getting stuck on blocks, which we saw frequently in the Senior Bowl. Ty will need to learn to work the offensive lineman’s hands well as a pass-rusher.
If he develops the way the Eagles hope, Robinson could eventually become a starter who plugs the middle and makes life easier for the linebackers behind him. I had Robinson graded inside my top 100. He didn’t really stand out at the Senior Bowl, but he bounced back with a strong showing at the combine. Robinson is a grinder up front, though he might not turn into a big-time playmaker.
This pick helps the Eagles fulfill their goals going into the draft, get younger, stronger, and more physical.
