The Phillies were able to overcome the obstacle of the wind in Tuesday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants with multiple key plays that led to a 6-4 victory.

Coming off of last night’s disappointing loss, it was time for the offense to pick up the bats and find momentum once again, which they sure found a groove tonight, slugging two home runs despite the weather.

This was an important game for many in the lineup and on the field, as time is running out on some of the “experiments” the Phillies seem to be holding on to. J.T. Realmuto, Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm, Jordan Romano, and Bryce Harper each had a key moment in tonight’s game to show for, whether it was power, consistency, or overall contact with the ball.

Realmuto Fights the Wind for His First Home Run of the Season

Going into tonight’s game, Realmuto had yet to leave the yard, which seemed unlike J.T., with him usually finding power in his swing. That changed with a solo shot in the second to bring life into the lineup. Overall, Realmuto had two hits in four at-bats tonight, bringing his average up to a solid .245.

It is very likely we see Realmuto around that .245 mark throughout the season, which would be decent for the 34-year-old catcher, but if he can continue to show for his power, he will end up a clutch asset to this lineup.

Marsh Does a Job, Brings a Runner Home

To say the least, Marsh has struggled at the plate. He went into tonight’s game with a .108 average. Many say that he needs a change in setting, whether it’s the bench, the minors, or even a new city to start fresh. Whichever option Marsh and the Phillies lean towards, there is no doubt that he is still a Phillie as of now and needs to contribute in some way.

In the second inning, after Realmuto’s home run, Marsh was able to lift the ball and bring home Max Kepler, extending the lead to two. Although it wasn’t a hit, Marsh was able to find contact during the situation, showing a sign of growth.

Harper Lifts the Lid for Third Home Run of the Year

Similar to Realmuto’s concern, Harper had shown for a recent “power outage.” with his struggles at the plate going deep. With a one-run lead, Bryce was able to give the Phillies a huge cushion with a two-run shot to right field.

In the situation, a home run from Bryce not only adds some relief with his recent struggles, but also shows that the clutch gene is alive and kicking.

Another Excellent Inning from Romano

Romano did not have the best start to the 2025 season, and many have noticed his issues. Romano had little to no command of the zone and found himself behind in almost every count to start the year, and has since flipped the script these last two series with multiple dominant outings.

Romano now has three consecutive outings with no earned runs, one against the Braves, one against the Cardinals, and tonight against the Giants. Tonight could be argued as his best outing of the season, with a 1-2-3 inning, only throwing ten pitches, nine for strikes.

If Romano keeps up his streak and is able to put away his start, he will find himself in more key situations to show for, which will be necessary down the stretch.

Bohm Turns Up Late in the Game

Lastly, most notably, Bohm found a way to contribute to the Phillies’ win with a key RBI late. The hit from Bohm in that situation in the sixth to give the Phillies the lead was the perfect time for him to get a hit. Bohm now has hits in back-to-back games and looks more comfortable in the box. Only time will tell what more Bohm has in him, but for now, it could look like he has found something to build off of.
