Who is PSR Staff Predicting to Win Eagles-Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX?

We are one day away from Super Bowl LIX!
The Eagles and Chiefs kick off from the Superdome in New Orleans at 6:30 on Sunday. Who is the Philly Sports Reports staff picking to win the game?
Here are our official predictions:
Benjamin Goldstein: Eagles 34, Chiefs 24
When you flashback to Super Bowl LVII in 2023, and the age of the Eagles’ defense against that Chiefs offense, Philadelphia should have never had a shot. They were never going to chase down Patrick Mahomes or stick with Travis Kelce. But even with Marcus Epps, Linval Joseph, Ndamukong Suh, Avonte Maddox, T.J. Edwards, and others on that starting defense, they still only lost to that Chiefs team due to Jalen Hurts‘ fumble and a poorly timed defensive holding call. This defense is young, fast, and ferocious. This offense is coming off of a 55-point performance in the NFC Championship Game, and they are playing angrily. They put up 35 points on the Chiefs back in that Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona, and that was with Miles Sanders as the starting running back. Now, they have Saquon Barkley. And if the Cheifs and their great defensive line can slow Barkley down, Hurts has proven that he can step up, not turn the ball over, and make plays with both his arm and legs to win the Eagles a football game. That will hold true on Sunday, and all of the Eagles doubters will shut up for good.
Sam Heine: Eagles 31, Chiefs 23
For the second time in three years, the Eagles are playing for a Super Bowl championship. Again, the Kansas City Chiefs stand in our way. The Chiefs are the new age dynasty in the NFL, and with probably the best quarterback of all time on the other sideline. But, with that said, I believe the Eagles are the better team. The Eagles number one ranked defense has been tested by elite quarterbacks all season long, and they have passed every test. The defense got burnt by Mahomes and Andy Reid in Super Bowl 57, and I know they are vowing to not let that happen again. While the Chiefs don’t turn the ball over, I think the Eagles’ defense creates one. When Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are clicking as they did in the NFC Championship Game, no one can beat them. Hurts was fantastic in the championship game, and it’s going to take another fantastic performance to bring the Lombardi Trophy home. The Chiefs have not allowed a 100-yard rusher in the playoffs under coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, but that changes on Sunday. Saquon Barkley has been on a mission all season long, and he will end that mission with a Super Bowl MVP award.
Matt Brown: Eagles 34, Chiefs 27
I truly think this game is going to be an all-timer. This Sunday just feels like a game between two of the best the league has to offer and I think like the last time they played in the Super Bowl, I think it will be a game for the ages. I just hope that this time the game isn’t decided by a late penalty. In what I expect to be a 60-minute battle between the Chiefs and the Eagles, I have to Eagles narrowly picking up the win thanks to a late touchdown from none other than Saquon Barkley. While giving Patrick Mahomes any time left to go and win a game is normally a bad thing, I think the Eagles’ defense picks up a late turnover that ices the game for the Eagles, giving them their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
Evan Hartenstein: Eagles 38, Chiefs 21
The Big Game is finally here and I think that the final score will look pretty different from the last time these two foes met. This Eagles squad is different than the one in 2022. The defense is younger and the offense has turned into a Saquon Barkley fever dream. The first time around, Kansas City took advantage of Philadelphia’s dominant, but slow defense and was able to pull away late in the 4th. This time, instead of Fletcher Cox, it’s Jalen Carter. Instead of Hassan Reddick, it’s Nolan Smith. Instead of James Bradberry, it’s Quinyon Mitchell. The team is faster and better. Saquon Barkley will run for over 150 yards and the defense will hold the Chiefs to 21 points. Mark my words.
Ethan Whitney: Eagles 30, Chiefs 17
I have been fortunate to see 4 Philly teams go to championships. Eagles 3 times, and the Phillies once. This being the 4th. I have never felt more confident entering the championship than I am this year. The Eagles have an answer for everything they have. Chiefs have elite blitzes? Eagles have the best O-line in football. They might slow down Saquon but you won’t stop him, they don’t have any WR good enough to beat the Eagles’ secondary, their offensive line will have a long night trying to deal with the Eagles’ line, and Zack Baun is patrolling the middle ready for whatever’s coming. Grease the poles, the Lombard is coming to Broad Street.
Roman Furchi: Eagles 28, Chiefs 24
The Eagles have made the Super Bowl on the back of 2 things. Their line play and Saquon Barkley. I feel as though Kansas City understands this and will stop Saquan at all costs. They haven’t let up a 100-yard rusher in 18 postseason games. This game is going to be won and lost by the competency of Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts. Whether people want to agree or not is up to their own choice but I feel as though hurts that X-factor that will win this game and possibly cause the city of Philadelphia to become a mass riot in the next couple of days.
