Phillies announce report date for spring training, make 23 non-roster invites

We are somehow already a month out from spring training. It is crazy to think that.

Phillies’ pitchers and catchers will report to Clearwater, Florida in four weeks, on February 11, and will hold their first workout on February 12. The first full-squad workout will be on February 17.

The Grapefruit League opener is February 22 in Lakeland against the Tigers, and their home opener is February 23 against the Orioles.

The team also announced the following 23 players that will attend major league spring training as non-roster invitees:

Pitchers (11): Left-handers – Tristan Garnett and Nick Vespi. Right-handers – Nabil Crismatt, Jose Cuas, Joel Kuhnel, Griff McGarry, John McMillon, Nicholas Padilla, Andrew Painter, Austin Schulfer, and Guillo Zuñiga.

Catchers (4): Josh Breaux, Payton Henry, Paul McIntosh, and Caleb Ricketts.

Infielders (5): Rodolfo Castro, Otto Kemp, Rafael Lantigua, Aidan Miller, and Carson Taylor.

Outfielders (2): Justin Crawford and Gabriel Rincones Jr.

Infielder/outfielder (1): Matt Kroon

The top three prospects in the Phillies’ system, right-hander Andrew Painter, shortstop Aidan Miller, and outfielder Justin Crawford, were all invited to major-league camp.

This is Painter’s second time in major league camp, while it is Miller and Crawford’s first. The 21-year-old Painter will not pitch in games this spring after a season off due to Tommy John, but will go through a throwing program. He has a chance to get the call to the big leagues in 2025, as the Phillies have stated they are shooting for a possible call-up in “July-ish.” Painter will begin the season in the Minors.
