While the Phillies’ campaign ended shorter than expected, Bette’s Triples made it to their finish line in 2024.
Beth Overmier, Nolan Snyder, and the Phandemic Krew made the most exciting play in baseball more exciting this past season by honoring their late mother/grandmother, Bette, by donating $100 for each Phillies triple to the Pennsylvania SPCA with their fundraiser, Bette’s Triples.
Bette passed away last November due to the long-term consequences of chemotherapy. She resiliently battled cancer three times beginning in 2012. Through this struggle, she was still able to share love and care with her family, the Phillies, and animals.
Bette was a long-time donor to the PSPCA and along with her love for the Fightins, she cherished animals as well.
“She just adored animals,” Overmier said back in April. “I just thought this would be something she would be proud of and if she was still with she’d still be contributing.
“She donated to several charities, but I know that the SPCA was near and dear to her heart.”
On Monday, I joined Overmier, Snyder, and the Phandemic Krew at the PSPCA in Philadelphia to deliver a $10,016.69 check to the SPCA, which was all raised this season via donors and 25 Phillies triples.
“It was a joy to be able to honor the memory of my grandmother who I know is looking down on us and so proud,” Snyder said Monday.
“The PSPCA meant a lot to her when she was alive and we will continue to raise money and awareness for animal welfare in her honor,” Overmier said.
The family says that they plan to run Bette’s Triples again in 2025 “in some capacity.” Snyder says he and his mother are going to be looking for new ideas for the fundraiser.
