Trust the process? Sixers may be at rock bottom, fall 117-111 against Memphis

I almost don’t want to say Rock Bottom because with this team it can get so much worse. Everything that could’ve gone wrong to this point, has gone worse than you could’ve ever imagined.

Let’s break down the 5th loss in a row along with everything else that was bad about tonight.

Paul George is almost unplayable

Listen I know nobody expected prime PG to return for the Sixers but he’s making Tobias Harris look like Micheal Jordan right now. Horrible isn’t a harsh enough word to describe how bad PG has been on the court for the Sixers so far.

Outside of a solid performance against the Knicks PG has been a liability on the court for most of the time he’s been on it. With Maxey already dealing with injury it’s opened one of the many gaping holes on the squad. What went from PG and Maxey possibly being an elite duo has already turned into Jared McCain trying to pick up all the slack singlehandedly.

Unfortunately, this isn’t even the worst bit of PG news. That honor goes to…

PG is literally unplayable (he’s injured again)

An aging injury-prone guard dealing with injury? If only there was some way we could’ve known. PG left early after his atrocious performance because he hyperextended the very same knee that caused him to miss time at the beginning of the season.

We were hoping to see Maxey and PG finally share the court with Tyrese Maxey on the cusp of his return, but instead, it could be another month until the 250-million-dollar man suits up again.

Joel Embiid understands it now

Not long after a report came out saying Embiid wasn’t exactly sure what the Sixers were trying to do on the court, he finally showed up dropping 35 despite the loss. Wasn’t a perfect night for Joel but at least he’s back to doing what we know he can do.

Throughout the beginning of the season, Embiid looked off and played accordingly. While him returning to this form won’t fix the team, it’s finally something to bounce the Sixers’ way.

Is it time to Capture the Flagg?

Here’s the thing. We can’t. OKC holds our first-round pick this year so whether we win the championship or lose out, the pick is theirs.

Not only can we not capture the generational Duke talent in Cooper Flagg, but we might be building a monster if OKC gets him but that’s a story for a different time.

The 76ers as an organization at a fork in the road. So many talks season after season of “is this the end of the process?” In my opinion, the process era doesn’t end until Embiid, be it from retirement or moving, is no longer a 76er.

This roster that’s set in place isn’t winning anything. So the team has a choice to make. Does it revamp the supporting cast again? With what assets? Or does Josh Harris and the team finally pull the plug on the decade-long disaster that has become the process?
