The Alec Bohm market is heating up.

Anne Rogers of MLB.com wrote Tuesday afternoon that “Two other players the Royals have checked in on are Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm and Angels outfielder Taylor Ward, according to sources, but nothing has progressed deeply yet.”

We all know the Bohm debate here in Philadelphia. He had a great regular season but finished terribly, going 1-for-13 in the National League Division Series against the Mets, and was even benched in Game 2. Bohm also has a .214 batting average with 25 hits, 2 home runs, and 14 RBIs in 34 games in the postseason in his career.

The Phillies are looking to reimage their third base position. The only way they can do that is a trade.

For the Royals, they typically prioritize plus-defenders with contact hitting. Bohm is a pretty poor defensive as the third baseman but can hit for contact and power to all fields. He would also fit well in the middle of Kansas City’s order, which features Bobby Witt Jr., Salvador Pérez, Vinnie Pasquantino, and others.

“Finding a hitter through free agency is not out of the question, but the Royals like what options they have on the trade market,” Rogers wrote.

Also, FanSided MLB insider Robert Murray considered a trade with the Mariners involving Bohm on the Foul Territory podcast.

“I do think Bohm makes a lot of sense for Seattle,” Murray said. “It wouldn’t break the bank at all. It’ll take a little bit to get him because he’s a really good young player, but the Phillies really want to kind of shake things up a little bit.”

In non-Bohm-related Phillies news, they have not met with Juan Soto yet but are planning to meet with him and his agent Scott Boras soon, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported on Tuesday. Soto has met with the Blue Jays, Red Sox, Mets, Yankees, and Dodgers so far. The Phils are coming up soon. So if you are on the Soto bandwagon, here is good news for you.
