“Baby We Were Born To Run” — Eagles Dominate Giants In Jersey

For the first time in just about a year, the Eagles have played a complete game. The Eagles dominated the Giants on both sides of the ball today in a 28-3 blowout win. This is the team we expected to see all offseason.
In Saquon Barkley’s return to the Meadowlands, he showed the Giants what they were missing. Barkley ran for 176 yards and scored a touchdown. Even with the injuries at the offensive line they still committed to run, and Barkley took advantage. The game really changed when Barkley ran for a 55-yard gain in the second quarter. It led to the team’s first score of the game, and the floodgates opened from there. Where would this team be without him? He has had so many huge runs and plays this season, and today was no different. Saquon was the best player on the field today, and it must have felt good to have that performance against a team that decided to let him go.
The Eagles defense put up another great performance, only allowing 3 points. They have not allowed a touchdown since Tampa Bay. The Eagles defensive line came to play today with Jalen Carter, Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, Bryce Huff, and Josh Sweat all registering sacks. They took advantage of the Giants losing their left tackle, and ever since the bye the pass rush has looked different. I thought Vic Fangio called some timely blitzes that allowed Dean to get home a few times, and all in all Fangio has done a great job since the bye.
Jalen Hurts was not needed much in this game, as the Eagles put up 270 yards on the ground. He was 10/14 for 114 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was an amazing play by Hurts, as he hit A.J. Brown deep for a touchdown while getting hit. It was a perfect throw by Jalen, and a great route by A.J. Jalen struggled in some aspects today as well, and he needs to get cleaned up if they are going to beat better teams. I thought he held the ball for way too long at times, and he also missed some clear open receivers at times as well. But, for the second straight week, he did not turn the ball over. That is a major improvement from the beginning of the season, and hopefully, that will continue when the game plan calls for more than 14 passing attempts.
The Eagles will head to Cincinnati to take on the 3-4 Bengals next week. The Eagles have a chance to use this game as a momentum boost going forward. The Eagles play some struggling teams over the next few weeks, and hopefully, this week’s game will be the start of a new-look Eagles team. Next week’s game against the Bengals was previously at 4:25, but it has been flexed to a 1:00 pm ET kickoff.
