Phillies release NLDS roster vs. Mets

Game 1 of the NLDS is finally here.

The Phillies released their 26-man roster Saturday morning. Here it is:

Pitchers (12): Left-handers – Kolby Allard, José Alvarado, Tanner Banks, Cristopher Sánchez, Matt Strahm, and Ranger Suárez. Right-handers – Carlos Estévez, Jeff Hoffman, Orion Kerkering, Aaron Nola, José Ruiz, and Zack Wheeler.  

Catchers (2): J.T. Realmuto and Garrett Stubbs.  

Infielders (7): Alec Bohm, Kody Clemens, Bryce Harper, Edmundo Sosa, Bryson Stott, Trea Turner, and Weston Wilson.  

Outfielders (4): Nick Castellanos, Austin Hays, Brandon Marsh, and Johan Rojas.  

Designated Hitter (1): Kyle Schwarber.

No big surprises. They go with 12 pitchers and 14 position players, which was expected. Rob Thomson has not done that yet in his tenure.

My biggest thing is probably going with Allard over Max Lazar. The Mets are very righty-heavy, so right-hander Lazar over the left-handed Allard seemed like it could have been the play. No one will lose sleep over it though.

Game 1’s first pitch is at 4:08 p.m. ET. Wheeler starts for the Phils, Kodai Senga for the Mets.
