Alec Bohm reinstated from 10-day IL

At first, Alec Bohm was never even supposed to be on the injured list. The Phillies believed that he would be able to recover from his left-hand strain that he suffered on August 29 against the Braves in a few days and would not need an IL stint.
That obviously was not the case, but he is back.
Prior to Sunday afternoon’s rubber match against the Mets, the Phillies returned Bohm from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list. To make room for Bohm on the 28-man roster, Aramis Garcia was DFA’d.
He suffered the injury on a swing in the first inning of that game on August 29, lasted another inning, and has not played since. No structural damage was shown on X-rays but Bohm has had soreness and inflammation and still felt it after some dry swings.
He was reliable to return on Friday but went on a rehab assignment with the Iron Pigs on Saturday instead. He went 2-for-4 with a double and played the entire game at third base. He got the call back to Philadelphia a day later.
Bohm is hitting .290 with an MLB-leading 44 doubles. The Phillies are getting their No. 1 run-getter back. He has 89 RBIs, leading the team.
Edmundo Sosa was also on that rehab assignment with Bohm. Sosa Saturday night went 0-for-4 and was removed after 6 innings at second base. He was placed on the 10-day IL on September 8 with back spasms. He is eligible to return on September 17, which would be Game 2 of the Phils’ massive series in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
Bohm is in the lineup Sunday afternoon for the Phils as they look to win the series over the Mets. Here is the rest of the lineup:
DH Kyle Schwarber
SS Trea Turner
1B Bryce Harper
RF Nick Castellanos
3B Alec Bohm
C J.T. Realmuto
LF Weston Wilson
2B Buddy Kennedy
CF Johan Rojas
