The Eagles’ 2024 regular season schedule is finally here, even though it feels like they got their you-know-what smacked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round a week ago.

First impressions?

The positives: Only five primetime games, one of those on a Friday, compared to last season where it felt like every single game was late.

The negatives: a Week 5 bye is terrible.

They get their season started in Brazil against the Packers, which we knew already. They open at home on Monday night, with Jason Kelce back with ESPN, against the new-look Falcons. The Eagles’ home opener will feature Kirk Cousins on primetime for the third straight year. And we know how Kirk does under the lights. No so good.

It is an AFC North year, so they are taking on the Browns, Bengals, Ravens, and Steelers. The AFC North may be one of, if not the, best division in the NFL. The Browns came out of nowhere and made the playoffs last season, the Bengals have Joe Burrow and other stars, the Ravens had the best record in the NFL last year, and the Steelers, well, are kind of the weak spot. But, who knows, Russell Wilson always seems to kill the Eagles.

The Jaguars are thrown in there from the AFC, as well.

They play the NFC East in Weeks 7, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. I do not like how they are all grouped together, but facing everyone in the last three weeks could be interesting especially Dallas Week 17 at the Linc. The Birds get their first looks at the new face of the Commanders, Heisman winner Jayden Daniels, Week 11 at home on Thursday night. Saquon Barkley also makes his return to MetLife Week 7.

That Week 5 bye though, gosh, it sucks. It is unbearably early. The Eagles have gotten pretty lucky with their bye weeks recently, but this one is a real stab in the throat. They will go 13 straight weeks without a break. Pretty brutal.

But, after the initial look, I think this team goes 12-5, with losses to the Saints, Bucs, Bengals, Cowboys in Dallas, and Ravens. They seem to always lose in New Orleans, and then all the others seem realistic. I think the Eagles win their last five games to clinch the NFC East, with that Week 17 matchup in Philly with Dallas pretty much being for the division.
