After Trea Turner‘s electric run from second-to-home on a ball to the backstop Friday night has him placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain before Saturday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.

Kody Clemens was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his spot on the roster.

Turner told reporters Saturday that he expects to miss at least six weeks and any return before that “would be a win.”

Turner suffered a left hamstring strain in April of 2017. He was out for 11 days.

Turner has been excellent to start, unlike last season. His slash line is .343/.392/.482 with a .852 OPS. This is obviously a big blow for the Phillies, but they have a lot of depth at the position.

Edmundo Sosa will start at short on Saturday. Bryson Stott will get time there, too. He has not played shortstop since Game 6 of the 2022 World Series. The Phillies could not do any pregame infield work outside on Saturday due to rain. Whit Merrifield also told Rob Thomson he could fill in, but Merrifield has not played there in his MLB career. He is a natural second baseman and is expected to get the majority of reps there when Stott is at shortstop.

J.T. Realmuto will replace Turner in the two spot in the lineup for now. Thomson preferred to keep the Alec Bohm behind Bryce Harper in the cleanup spot.

Here is Saturday’s starting nine, which may be the new-look lineup without Turner:

Kyle Schwarber DH
J.T. Realmuto C
Bryce Harper 1B
Alec Bohm 3B
Brandon Marsh LF
Nick Castellanos RF
Bryson Stott 2B
Edmundo Sosa SS
Johan Rojas CF

Ranger Suarez LHP
