A priority coming into this offseason for the Eagles was extending DeVonta Smith, and they did it.

On Monday morning, the Eagles picked up Smith’s fifth-year option on his rookie contract and agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2028 season. In 2025, Smith will play on the fifth-year option, and his three-year extension for 2026, 2027, and 2028 is worth $75 million and includes $51 million in guaranteed money. That annual average of $25 million over the three-year extension corresponds with A.J. Brown’s four-year, $100 million contract signed after he was traded to the Eagles in 2022.

Pretty solid way to start the week for Eagles fans and Smith, who earns a massive payday.

Smith was the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Alabama and he has been what the Eagles hoped he would be during the first three years of his career, if not more.

The 25-year-old has 240 receptions for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns. While splitting the field with Brown, Smith has still been able to reach over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. Smith finished with 1,066 receiving yards this past season. He is not even near what his prime may be yet.

Smith joins Landon Dickerson, Jake Elliott, and Jordan Mailata, who have all received big extensions this offseason to stay in Philadelphia until 2028.
