Citizens Bank Park’s new additions for 20th season

While it may be hard to believe, we are entering year 20 at Citizens Bank Park. Hopefully, it will be one to remember forever.
And, per usual, a lot of new food and drink items and other additions are making their debut at the ballpark on Opening Day.
New food and drink items
There are a ton of new food and drink items coming to the Bank this season, and they sound pretty delicious.
Here are the descriptions of everything, via the Phillies’ release:
- Briganti Wines, owned by former major leaguer Mike Costanzo Jr., is now served at all bar locations at the ballpark! This wine has emerged from the well-respected Risogna Vini and has produced high-quality wines in the Abruzzo region since 2017.
- Big Mozz, the best-tasting mozzarella sticks ever, made with real, fresh ingredients, is now offered at Coca-Cola Corner, Pass & Stow and 1883 Burger Co (behind Sections 108 and 207).
- Casamigos® Bar will offer a selection of cocktails and beer (behind Section 113). Casamigos® Tequila will also be served at ballpark bar locations.
- Four Walls, the new Irish American Whiskey brand from Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day, is now being offered at the ballpark! Features hand selected barrels of grain and malt Irish whiskeys uniquely blended with American rye whiskey.
- Kona Big Wave Bar (formerly the Goose Island at the Park Bar) is an outdoor bar located in the Third Base Plaza featuring a variety of beer, wine and spirits – a perfect spot to spend time with your friends!
- Manco & Manco Pizza, the Ocean City boardwalk fan favorite, is expanding to additional locations and will now be offered in the Hall of Fame Club and on the Upper Deck (Sections 212 and 321). Fans can also get the popular pizza at Ashburn Alley, Pass and Stow, Miller Lite Liberty Landing and Section 137.
- PrimoHoagies, a renowned specialty sandwich and sub shop known for its authentic, mouthwatering hoagie, is now offering its classic Italian and turkey and cheese hoagies at a quick and easy express location (behind Section 139).
- Ballpark Bomb Fries: These new fries offered by PJ Whelihan’s and exclusive to Citizens Bank Park are exploding with flavor! (PJ Whelihan’s in Ashburn Alley, behind Section 147).
- Bratwurst Sandwich: Grilled brat topped with spicy mustard and beer-braised onions on a Liscio Bakery roll; served with house ranch chips and a pickle spear (Pass and Stow, adjacent to Third Base Plaza).
- Buffalo Chik’n Hoagie: Greens & Grains, a local restaurant chain serving plant-based food for everyone, with fast and fresh options that are easily accessible, has added the Citizens Bank Park buffalo chik’n hoagie to its lineup. (Greens & Grains, behind Section 125)
- Loaded Funnel Cake Fry Sundae: Fresh funnel cake fries topped with a homemade strawberry compote, vanilla soft serve and whipped cream (Coca-Cola Corner in left field, behind section 142).
- Schwarburger 2.0: Kyle’s favorite burger creation will now be featured all season long – a fresh burger topped with American cheese, pepper bacon, fried egg, crispy onions, and signature sauce (Coca-Cola Corner in left field, behind section 142).
- Wing Flavor of the Month: Open the season with the Flamin’ Pickleback followed by featured sauces that will rotate throughout the year (PJ Whelihan’s in Ashburn Alley, behind Section 147).
- Gluten Free Brownie: Chocolate brownie, chewy marshmallow, and Herr’s® Fire Roasted Sweet Corn Popcorn (Gluten Free Kiosk, behind Section 122).
- Fastball Freeze: A new spiked frozen cocktail or beverage served in a new baseball-shaped, Phillies souvenir cup (behind Sections 113 and 147).
- Non-alcoholic frozen slush puppies in Phillies colors, cherry and blue raspberry (behind Section 139).
- On Field Ice Cream Caps: New souvenirs for your favorite Richman’s soft serve ice cream or Dippin’ Dots™ served throughout Citizens Bank Park (behind Sections 106, 108, 110, 128, 137, 139, 204, 206, 318, 321, 323, 330 and The Yard).
There is a lot going on.

New out-of-town scoreboard
I wrote a story on this when we originally found out that it was happening, but the out-of-town scoreboard in right field has received a major rehaul.
It has room for some scores, but not all like it used to. More room for ads (of course), stats, Phanavision, and whatever else they can fit on there.
I do not hate it, but definitely do not love it. I am kind of disgusted by all the ad space. More ads than scores are a problem. But it is what it is.
The throw-back-looking out-of-town scoreboard had a certain charm that gave CBP character. Gave it a classy feel. But they are moving away from what made CBP what it is. Modernization and money always win.
We will get a better look on Opening Day with the naked eye. But through photos, it is whatever.
Celebrating 20 years
Citizens Bank Park is 20 years old, and the Phillies plan to celebrate, starting with unveiling the logo celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ballpark.
In 1991, Veterans Stadium was as old as Citizens Bank Park is today. Kind of wild.
Randy Wolf threw the first pitch in the history of the Citizens Bank Park. He will return exactly 20 years to the date on April 12, 2024, to throw out the first pitch before the Phillies’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Wolf Pack better be there.
The Phillies also say that the organization will celebrate the 20th anniversary prior to businessperson’s specials on May 8, May 23, June 19, and July 31, before having an “on-field pregame event” on Sunday, August 18, which will be Alumni Day. I am sure there will be some sort of nod to the anniversary on Opening Day.
Go-ahead entry
Last August, Citizens Bank Park was the first to have MLB’s Go-Ahead Entry which is “a free-flow facial authentication technology, resulting in a fast, hands-free, eyes-up entry.”
According to the MLB, over 17,000 fans used the new technology last season. With the success of the quick entry, the Phillies are adding Go-Ahead Entry lanes to the Third Base and Left Field Gates. It debuted at the First Base gate last season.
All fans (including those who signed up last season) will need to register at the MLB Ballpark App to enjoy Go-Ahead Entry in 2024.
“Next Generation” mural
The Phillies are debuting a new mural above Ashburn Alley in left-center field.
Named “Next Generation,” the new mural was designed by Jose “Busta” Bustamante, who was selected in a contest held by SEI and the Phillies to “showcase creativity and new ideas by local artists at Citizens Bank Park.”
“The unique work of art celebrates Philadelphia’s culture, bold spirit, Phillies fandom and SEI’s mission to build brave futuresSM through the power of connection.”
New gear
Finally, the Phils are debuting some new items you can purchase in the New Era Team Store.

- 20th Anniversary Ballpark Collection: A special lineup of merchandise commemorating 20 years of Phillies baseball at Citizens Bank Park, including trading pins, pennants, magnets, can coolers and more.

Opening Day is scheduled for this Thursday at 3:05 p.m. ET against the Atlanta Braves where Zack Wheeler will go up against Spencer Strider if the weather cooperates. The game could be postponed to Friday, if necessary.
