Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and the LA Lakers took down Tyrese Maxey and the Sixers 101-94 after a horrendous offensive showing in the 4th quarter. This is the first time the Lakers have beaten Philadelphia in 7 games, the last time LA pulled it out dating back all the way to March of 2020.

The Sixers still sit at the 8 seed in the East and after Indiana’s win over the Warriors, are 1.5 GB from being in the Non-Play-In-Tournament Playoff Bracket. With this Lakers win, Los Angeles remains as the 9 seed in the West, but gain 3.5 games of distance from the 11-seeded Utah Jazz, who are currently out of the Play-In.

There has been a common theme for the Joel Embiid-less Philadelphia, and that’s being unable to close out games or do anything good in the 4th quarter. Philadelphia put up a measly 18 points in the 4th, after leading by 3 at the end of the 3rd. The Lakers snagged a slim lead with 8:30 left in the game and never looked back. Awful shooting by Philly helped LA make a push toward the final minutes of the game to extend their lead and solidify a much-needed victory. The Sixers on the other hand were also craving for a win, but just couldn’t get it done.

Philadelphia shot an abysmal 34.4% from the field and an even worse 21.6% from beyond the arc. It cannot be expected that you’re going to win games when the shooting is this atrocious. Had Philly just knocked down a few of those shots this would have been a huge win for the Sixers, but instead, nobody could hit anything. This is a tough loss for the Sixers and they’re really going to wish they snagged this game.

The Sixers continue their West Coast road trip in LA again on Sunday taking on the Clippers. If the Sixers play the same they did against the Lakers against the Clippers, it is not going to turn out well.
