The Philadelphia Flyers (33-24-8) took on the San Jose Sharks (16-40-7) at the Wells Fargo Center tonight taking away a 3-2 win.

The Flyers headed into this matchup with a lot of bags to unpack. Firstly they split their trip to Florida with a win against the NHL’s hottest team, the Florida Panthers, and a loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Secondly, after an argument with the Referees, the Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella was suspended 2 games by the NHL and had to sit on the bench for this matchup against the Sharks.

Now it’s about time we recap the Flyers 3-2 win.

The Flyers had the ball rolling early in the 1st finding a good groove on their offense and defense as well as generally controlling the puck.

The score column was marked early off of a shot from Joel Farabee from the assist of Morgan Frost that put the Flyers up 1-0.

The Sharks responded with 41 seconds left in the 1st when Filip Zadina tied things up with a backhanded goal that sent us even into the intermission.

Both teams found themselves in a stalemate during the majority of the 2nd period. With 9 minutes and 20 seconds of the period already chipped away Morgan Frost got his second point and first goal of the night off of a wrist shot that gave the Flyers the lead 2-1.

Minutes later, the Sharks would not let this go without a response as Filip Zadina was able to secure a textbook tip-in goal from the shot of Luke Kunin that led us into the intermission tied.

The third period kicked off with the Flyers in control as they had seemed to have been all night finishing the game with 12 more shots than the Sharks.

The night would come to a climax with a goal courtesy of Owen Tippett as he was able to tip the puck in from the shot of Travis Konecny. Owen Tippett scored his 23rd goal of the season and secured the Flyers victory in that goal.

The Flyers finished the game out dominant with only a few close calls.

The Flyers defeated the Sharks 3-2 and prepare to finish their homestand against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.
